VQA
(Video Quality Analysis): Video Quality Assessment
Sector:
All 3G Standards
A video
quality assessment solution for video streaming,
video-messaging and video-telephony services through to mobile-TV
services
3G (and now HSDPA) paves the way to a new
world of multi-media based service opportunities ranging from video
streaming and mobile-TV to video-messaging and video-telephony. For
carriers, this represents the opportunity to offer higher margin and
uniquely personalised services. A key step towards the realisation of
this vision, however, is to ensure that subscribers are offered a
seamless, high quality service with minimal distortion.
Couei's Video Quality Analysis (VQA) delivers the capability to test:
1. Streaming-based services and
2. Video-telephony in one unique software platform - all from a
user-perspective.
Video Streaming QoS
Couei's solution delivers an objective Mean Opinion Score (MOS) that
calibrates QoS from 1 (bad) to 5 (excellent).
Video Telephony
Adopts the H.324M protocol stack which is currently the only reliable
way to test video-telephony calls over circuit-switched networks.
Key
Features
Both relative metrics (reference-based) and absolute metrics
(non-reference based) can be adopted
Referenced-based metrics include - perceptual metrics (Blockiness,
Blur, Noise, Colorfulness, Jerkiness), ANSI metrics (features
standardised by ANSI), Fidelity metrics (MSE, PSNR, Color PSNR, etc.),
MOS prediction
Non-reference-based metrics include Blockiness (block
structure, block boundaries), Blur (loss of detail, smeared edges),
Jerkiness (poor motion rendition), MOS prediction, very low
computational complexity; no alignment issues
MOS values for combined audio (speech) and video
Supports a range of video-players e.g. DirectX, Windows Media player,
Real Media player, QuickTime etc
File formats supported include MPEG-4, H.263(.mp4, .sdp), Microsoft
AVI, Windows Media (.wmv, .asf, asx), Real Media (.rm, .ram), 3GPP
H.263 (.3gp, .sdp), QuickTime Movie (.mov)
XCAP-W will be used as the post-processing tool |
